Luna Kids Dance through the California Institute for Dance Learning (CIDL), offers a palette of professional learning opportunities to dance teaching artists, classroom teachers, school and arts leaders, ECE faculty, and social workers. Our workshops and seminars combine theory and practice in a manner that activates the imagination to create change in our communities. Using a constuctivist approach, participants are engaged through movement, writing, group dialogue, curriculum design and teaching practice.
Teacher Education Workshops
Luna Kids Dance provides opportunities for dance teaching artists and classroom teachers to take time to engage in useful inquiry, access learning - both their own and that of their students - and tap into their creativity to create liberating arts curricula.
Our teacher education services explore issues relevant to teachers and dance educators, combining theory and practice in an accessible manner that addresses the realities of today's classroom. LKD workshops are designed to be a sequential preparation for dance teaching, as well as ongoing study for the lifelong learner. Each involves movement, writing, small and large group dialogue, and curriculum design. All provide opportunities for hands-on learning as teachers create dance activities and practice teaching to colleagues. Workshops may be repeated and are eligible for continuing education credit through Mills College and towards the California Dance Educators' Association dance pedagogy certificate.
